My computer (ASUS M5A97R2.0, AMD 8350 Black, Nvidia 1070-ti) suddenly stopped my mic from working. I was playing Sea of Thieves, cross play w/a player on Xbox, we had sound issues, bad echo, then some high pitch noise. We tried to fix things, mostly on my end as I was on computer. Somehow since that time, I've lost the ability to use my mic. I had been using a good headset mic using the mic and headset 3.5 jack inputs on the front of my computer. I purchased a new headset which used same, mic and headset/audio dual 3.5 connections and was unable to get either audio or mic to work although my system indicated that I should have been able to have sound. So... I uninstalled Realtek from my system, reinstalled it, updated the drivers etc...
I changed to a Corsair Void which uses an USB connection, I got sound but not mic work, strangely testing to see if mic worked while using Geforce recording features, which worked flawlessly prior to this, I was able to record the mic saying "Mic... On" "Mic.. Off", yet not my voice. The sound works great, I just couldn't talk to folks, Discord, Team Speak, Windows 10 Xbox, none work.
I then tried a new external sound card, a Sound Blaster G5, with the dual 3.5 inputs headset Hooked it up to my computer via USB connection, installed the Blaster software, etc... Got great sound to my newest headset (it uses two 3.5 jacks), was able to test via the Blaster Acoustic software the FX on vocals, ACTUALLY heard my voice on my earphones during the test of the FX on the BlasterX Acoustic... but mic still wouldn't work in any of the previous applications mentioned.
I reset via windows to reflect the new audio settings, I set all programs, Discord, Windows 10 Xbox, etc..to reflect the proper interface, Corsair, and now Sound Blaster. Windows doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that I'm using a mic.
I am so completely frustrated. I think there is some switch I turned off or something but I have no idea. Any help? Thanks, I'm frustrated, TD.
