Yes gropouce I must agree.

He is a uneducated racist tool.

As a psychologist who has worked with clients with even a mild form of autism like HFA (Asbergers) I can tell you the effects on the person are significant.

Any person who tries to claim those with autism of any form are just naughty is simply an idiot, and not worthy of further discussion.

Hows the French elections coming along?

Start a thread on it and keep us up to date on it?

Savage being a conservative at UC Berkley, I am sure he had to earn his degree's. I see nothing wrong with what he said about "autistic" people. Parent's do not want to be parents like that did years ago. So they just drug them up to shut them up. Now I will agree that there are those who are truely autistic and I am sadden by that. But it is time to go old school on these kids and teach them how to deal with life, just like they use to. No more liberal make you feel good crap. You must earn everything in life, not take it or given it to you.

My wife and I don't agree all the time either, that is just normal. Somewhat against minorities, like how? He says his mind against all Dems and GOP. Do you even listen to his show? If so you would know that. Yes saying something that is different than the POTUS so dead wrong. How Commie of you to think that way. What facts against liberals does he distort?

No medical background, but a brief survey of autism sites say that rates are around 20 per 1000 children (mostly male) or 1 out of 500. Yet the last public service announcement I heard on Armed Forces Network said the chance of your child being diagnosed with autism is 1 out of 166, a far different rate. (Because AFN Radio does not do commercials, they do lots of PSA's.)

I fully agree with the basic premise of the quote. I just think that he goes off the rails with his explanation.

There are, after all, a lot of holes in the theory of multiculturism.

I don't understand how some can support what this guy is saying. I mean jsc for christ sake he said 99% of the cases. This isnt some objective observation or a critique of autism and aspergers identification. He straight up said most cases are just kids not having someone say "Don't act like a moron". He said nothing about the rates.

And for the multiculturalism quote. Where to begin....... First off do we know what multiculturalism means? Teaching kids that there are other cultures and ideas will make them more tolerant and adaptable to change. I also remember hearing something about America being a melting pot? Maybe something about a nation of immigrants? Could someone expand on how multiculturalism is destroying (Or has destroyed) America? JSC? Brent?

Multiculturalism has only one downside as far as im concerned and that's a watering down of language and culture. Some of the smallest cultural groups will be extinct in the next decade, no one speaking the language, practicing traditions etc.

He wants all people that live here to be Americans. Not these small pockets of individules that separate themself from the rest the U.S. They must assimilate to our culture, not the other way around. When in Rome do what the Romans do, right? Everyone must keep their heritage going strong while adjusting to our ways. I don't know if it makes me a bad person, but it is kinda like when a liberal from lets say California or NY moves here in Texas. They move from there because of the bad conditions from the liberal policies. So now they get to enjoy conservative policies and a thriving job market while keeping their liberal views to spread around. I just think that is weird. I joke with my liberal friend from Florida and said he needs to move here in Texas but isn't allowed to vote, haa haa. :pt1cable:

I disagree, teaching kids about multiculturalism is a waste, unless theyre already exposed to it, as it simply doesnt apply in their lives, until it does.
More important, and it doesnt cost any money, is having parents instill that differences are OK, and sometimes really cool, like mom saying this Mexican meal was given to me by a co worker who is Mexican heritage, and its been handed down etc.
This waste of time and money is better spent elsewheres

If it cant be seen, and isnt used, what good is it?
As for uplifting the American dream, and admitting the US is a great country, maybe they should go back to that.
We see an imbalance here, push MC, slam mistakes the US has done in the past, and all pushed by a certain mindset, one thats cost us money, and act as if this wouldnt happen unless we spend that money, and leaves us with an attempt at guilt, which again, wont apply to most, as it just isnt in them to do or feel this way

I said I was medically unqualified to write much on autism. I also know that it is diagnosed much more frequently than when I was growing up. That is good, I guess, because that seems to indicate that we know more about it. I also said up at the beginning of the thread that I do not agree with everything he says.

From wikipedia:
Multiculturalism is an ideology that promotes the institutionalisation of communities containing multiple cultures. It is generally applied to the demographic make-up of a specific place, usually at the organizational level, e.g. schools, businesses, neighbourhoods, cities, or nations.
In a political context the term is used for a wide variety of meanings, ranging from the advocacy of equal respect to the various cultures in a society, to a policy of promoting the maintenance of cultural diversity, to policies in which people of various ethnic and religious groups are addressed by the authorities as defined by the group they belong to.[1][2] A common aspect of many such policies is that they avoid presenting any specific ethnic, religious, or cultural community values as central.[3]
I am not a multiculturalist.

Do I think we can learn from other cultures? Of course.

Do I think all other cultures are of equal value. No. But some are great as bad examples.

Nazism is a culture. So was the pre-Civil War South and its slavery.

And yes, the U.S. is a nation of immigrants. And with one exception, the main goal is assimilation. I'm not including Blacks here, because many weren't ... volunteers. But even for them, things are getting better. We have a long way to go, but many of us are trying.

A common aspect of many such policies is that they avoid presenting any specific ethnic, religious, or cultural community values as central.
Here's another problem I have. As a native, I am apparently supposed to suppress elements of my culture to avoid offending others. I think there is something wrong with that. For example, I do not think an anti-Semitic White Supremacy group deserves the same consideration as that friendly Jewish family three houses down.

Disagree. That is not a function of multiculturalism. That is the normal path of any society. We are just more concerned with saving what we can and we have , so far, the extra resources to spend doing it.

Let's just come out and say the "M" word.

And lest you think I am being racist or Islamophobic, google "muslim malmo sweden" to see where Europe is going.

And note the gratuitous military slam in the last paragraph:
"Adkisson, who faces his next court hearing Aug. 5, was on active duty with the Army beginning in 1974. Army records show he was a helicopter repairman, rising from a private to specialist and then returning to private before being discharged in late 1977."

JNap was right. Over three decades and we former military service people are still a danger to society.

Savage always believes in three thing for the USA. Borders, language, and culture. So it looks like you agree with at least two things needed to define the U.S.

Lol i think I remember that one being in the constitution. Jerrerson gave a great speech about only speaking English, Closing the borders, and protecting our British heritage. haha

English is the official language, country's are defined by their borders, and people should accept the U.S. culture. I like it.

I understand where you are coming from. Which parts of American culture would you most like to preserve? Could it not be preserved in a multicultural situation?

Guess what Savage is a LIBERAL Surprised?
