Where is Area51? I've flown all over Nevada trying to
find it. Does anybody know if its there or not? Please
e-mail me if you know.

Maybe Microsoft used US government map data for the scenery. Everybody knows
the US government denies the existance of the Area 51/Groom Lake Airfield!
;-D

The 2001 edition of "Microsoft Encarta Interactive World Atlas" does show a
dry lake at approximately 37° 16.5' N X
115° 47.8' W a few miles SSE of a feature marked "Groom Range". That
location is near the center of the NE lobe of Restricted Area 4808N (shown
in FS 2004 map and GPS). I have heard that area mentioned on documentary
programs that claimed the US government was takeing unusual measures to keep
the public away from that area and mountaintops within view of it. Delorme
Street Atlas shows a dead end road leading to the location of the dry lake.
I see nothing but open desert in that area of FS 2004's scenery.

Note that the US southwest has numerous basins that remain dry most of the
year becomeing temporary lakes on an irregular basis when a brief cluster of
rain storms occur. These lakes include landing sites used by NASA and the US
Air Force at Edwards Air Force Base and White Sands.
