Microphone does not input sound

I have recently solved an issue with no sound coming out of my sound card, but for some reason I cannot input sound through my microphone I have. I have already tried turning up the volume, it is not muted, and windows recognizes my mic, but when I speak into it it does not register any sound.

System info:
OS: Win7 64x
Motherboard: Asus m5a97 LE R2.0
Sound card: Xonar DGX

With what program are you recording? Does your mic need drivers?

No recording program in particular but teamspeak 3 or skype. I don't think my mic neeeds drivers and when I run windows updater it finds all drivers are up to date.

I dont know, also try taking the sound card out and use the motherboard input, if works then there is a problem with the sound card, if not try with another mic into the both of the sound card and the motherboard input.

Tried all that but still nothing. The mic works when entered into a different computer too.
