Question Microphone won't work

I recently built a computer, but last night my microphone randomly stopped working. I have windows 10. The mic is in my headset and windows sees it and says it's there but it doesn't work.

I have had that issue from time to time, in my case its a matter of unplugging the mic boom from headset and plugging it back in and it seems to correct the issue, could you try that with your headphoens (you did not indicate make and model ), another question I have for you is, does your headphiones connect to mic/speaker connection or has a usb connection ?
