I bought an hp microrver gen8 to replace my nas, basically what I want from is storage, download torrents and would like to access it without having to plug it into the tv so would like to access it from my laptop or maybe my iPad if possible.
Unfortunately I have found out it's not as easy as my nas to setup as I am no further on than when I bought it, I looked into freenas but apparently it needs 8gb of ram at the moment I only have the stock 2gb. I tried EXPenology and got nowhere with it just kept getting a mass wall of text with errors.
I then tried windows 7 but it wouldn't connect to the Internet.
Need some help guys as at the moment it looks like I have wasted a hundred odd quid I have had some good advice and help here before so hopefully someone can steer me the right way thanks in advance.

Hi

Just power on or reboot the server and press F10 when prompted during the server POST.
Then just follow the Intelligent Provisioning and you`l done.

Use the official HP web site to get all you need :
User guide - http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03787037-4.pdf
Intelligen Provisioning Guide - http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5379860&docId=emr_na-c03182305&docLocale=en_US

I`ll advise you to have a look on support page - OS Supported
You have a list of 22 supported OS - Windows Server , Linux , SUSE , Redhat , VMware

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5390291&lang=en&cc=us

Pick one for you needs and forget about Win 7 - 8 - 10 over this server - it is...

Seeing as I already have the server I would rather try and use it rather than sell it on plus for a four bay nas it would probably cost about thre times as much.
