It is so funny that people claim they want a faster, more secure and robust OS, but they want it to work with 2-3-5-7 year old software. Here's a secret, one of the reasons Windows has had so many problems in the past is because of them trying to make it compatible with everything created since Windows 98 (sarcasm.. sort of). If a couple games or disk utilities don't work or force you to upgrade, so what. If this OS is faster, more secure and provides a better user experience then those are the sacrifices.
The fact that someone can't play Age of Empire III shouldn't be a deciding factor for 99.9999999% of the rest of us. Secondarily, if you have 2-4 year old motherboard and your monitoring utilities won't work in 7 guess what, they shouldn't! It's a new OS! Either Asus will make updates to the utilities or they won't but I have yet to run across a MB utility that would be a make it or break it decision for me on upgrading to a better version of Windows.
Honestly, if you love XP and don't want to give it up. Stick with it. The rest of us will move forward and you can stay behind, but stop whining about it. I've been using Windows 7 RC for months with so few problems that it scary.
