[citation][nom]TheCapulet[/nom]I've since learned that this happens to help desk guys quite frequently. Lol.[/citation]

Yeah, you and everyone else has that story that "happened to them".

Lost Power buttons, Power cords, etc... common sense people.

My son is 5years old, since he was 3 - he has known how to COMPLETELY hook up his own desktop computer which he FIGURED out by himself.

Come' on people, stop trying to fit square blocks into round holes.

Many years ago, I ran into a site that was nothing more than a place for techs to post up their horror stores. One such story involved some old woman who called tech support to fix her desktop... which she shot with her rifle. he didn't attempt to fix it.

Do they have a US version? I worked for 8 years in the call center world, I have tones of funny stories, at times I have been considering writing a book about them LOL

[citation][nom]verenos[/nom]She asked me over the phone if the computer virus that her computer has will infect her other family members![/citation]

This was it. The final straw. I have officially lost all hope and faith in mankind. I wonder if there were any tearful goodbyes with her family through the locked door; a scene fit for any movie appearing on Lifetime network.

two different ones to add, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of them.

First, I used to work for Keating Technologies - USRobitics Canadian support. We got an e-mail back before Y2K from the Canadian Defense. They were asking if their 14.4 modems were going to be Y2K compliant (if you remember back that far, 56K modems had been out for a while already.

Second, working at IBM, research and development lab in Markham ON. I did internal tech support, meaning I looked after the computers of the staff in the building. I got one call and it took me over 7 minutes to explain to the woman how to right click her mouse.

The worst I've run into is having to explain to a project member (in high school group project) how to attach a document to an email. Apparently, the button saying "attachment" wasn't registering. It took me 30 minutes to sort out since, in addition, they also had trouble finding the document. I couldn't believe they'ed ever touched a computer before.
