Users in the finance industry who were forced off Office 2003 have actually come into my office and yelled at me over the ribbon. It slows them down by spreading often used functions across multiple sections. Plus it eats up valuable screen real estate. I've used it for 2 years myself and tend to agree with them.

I don't know if I like this ribbon s..t, my screen is still 17' not 30' so I don't like a big toolbar. Anyways, I will not jump on it right away, I skipped Vista cause I say its bad, I can skip on Win8 too, no problem. I am happy with Win7 but my old Xp did the job fine for all the tasks too. If I was MS I would have wait another 2-3 years with this but I guess its all about money and competition. Chrome OS, Mac, Linux want a piece of pie so Microsoft can't afford to lose this battle too. Luckily we have places like Tom's Hardware where we will make out decisions before spending money.

Looks like its part of the plan, they are trying make the worst Windows ever, so the next one will be the real deal, similar to the Vista/7 case.

I welcome the ribbon. It looks great and its functional.

Those that complain about screen real estate probably don't realize one can simply double click a tab on the ribbon and minimize it...

Nah, that prize goes to KDE and GNOME and possibly any other interface designed in a basement.
