Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2010 install fatal error

So my friend bought bf4 and i was walking him through the install process and when he launched it he got the error "the program could not be started because msvcr.dll is missing from your computer." He also had this problem with Killing Floor 2. I looked on the internet and people said to download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=14632. He downloaded it and in the middle of installing he got the error: Microsoft Visual C++2010 x64Redlistributable has not been installed because:
Fatal error during installation.
This also happened with the x86 version. Any help is welcome and thank you

see if after you run that it comes up clean ?

check the game dvd files to see if theres a standalone installer for the c++ some games install what needed [unless you got a steam rental game ] then that between you and steam

I just installed a program that showed that kind of error but it had vcredist [ Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2013 x64 and x86 ] installers in its files to run stand alone right in the program files to use ran ther installers they updated , and all was good ??

well try another like Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 thing is like this other game I got needs MSVCP71dll but its part of the games install ? so if its something the game requires most times its included in the program installer ??

then I got to ask if your using win-10 ?? maybe try 2015 ??

well try another like Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 thing is like this other game I got needs MSVCP71dll but its part of the games install ? so if its something the game requires most times its included in the program installer ??

Update: The dll files it wants are in his computer for sure but battlefield just won't recognize them. At this point i want to tear out my hair. Thanks

I cant say seeing it steam or uplay or origin rent game ?? maybe the download from where ever you got to get from then inorder to use /play the game was bad ? maybe redownload and reinstall or any of its 3ed party involvement /

I don't support any games that require any 3ed party or internet clients what ever if not fully on the disk to load and play no sale

thing here is you don't know if its you the game or them ?? you aint got a clue in the end with out them you got nothing with out them ?


all I can say is clean it out and up start over fresh and hope something goes right the 2ed or 3ed time
