From a bussiness standpoint the whole reason vista didn't do well is because the UAC among other things either blocked or required that certain things be run with administrator access, and you can't give everyone admin because obviously it defeats the purpose. If W7 can overcome this hurdle in time, i see it becoming the new standard OS for companies

have not used win7 in my computer but tried it on an athlon xp machine and it works faster than vista installed.
had installed a dual boot to XP here in my pc since i have to use an old scanner then was surprised to found out that google chrome works so fast on XP.
it seemed like browsing became a native application everything came at an instant!
anyways, i'm just hoping that win7 will have that XP speed and response which i've read microsoft had done something about it.

Windows 7 being based off Vista is a good thing. Vista was the 1st generation of a complete rewrite of Windows which off course comes with massive unexpected problems. Windows 7 can make the best of the lessons learned which I would expect this version of Windows much superior to anything before.

Are you kidding? IF you're one of the few people who doesn't have a windows live account for some reason or another, AND you can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds creating one in order to download a FREE operating system, what gives you the right to complain about it?

The PC industry is dependent on the Windows operating system to help fuel mindless consumption of goods. While there will always be a market for Microsoft to do well in I see them leaving the operating system market real soon.

When Vista came out I lost nearly every ounce of faith I've had in M$. I know its unlikely for an OS to come out bug free, but with the release they had and know the amount of people who were going to use it (including "newbs" and computer illiterates) it was a bad move on M$.

Se7en on the otherhand is restoring my faith with every time I turn on the computer. Even beta the OS is faster, seemingly more stable, and just generally has a better feel then both XP and Vista.

Microsoft is getting better and better. A lot of people think that Vista was a horrible misstep for Microsoft, but I beg to differ. If anybody here remembers the WinXP launch, it was hell compared to the Vista launch. Comparatively speaking, more devices and computers were equipped to run Vista when it came out in Jan 2007 than were equipped to run XP when it came out in August 2001. And it seems that Windows 7 will (hopefully) be even better at its launch. Time will tell.
