[citation][nom]Maxor127[/nom]Sounds like it's just corporate BS. It's just Microsoft saying calls are half of "what it expected." They could've expected anything. There's no context to provide perspective or data to back it up.[/citation]
Err, how about comparison to the same 2 month period after the release of Vista, or XP. If, for example, they got 20,000 calls in 2 months after Vista but only 10,000 in the 2 months after 7 then that is less than what they expected.
Does anyone think before writing anymore?

The 7 is so equal to the others and the answers that people received before are so dump that almost no one is tempted to try again.

The solved their problmes alone one time, and never try again with the dump suport.

I know a lot of people that have technical problems with their car radio (mostly from unintuitive interfaces). Given the increased complexity of an OS and the seemingly infinite array of devices and programmes, it is no surprise some people might have technical difficulties.
I lean in the direction that people are fed up with 'IT help' over the phone in general. Online documentation for problems has increased (from what I have seen) greatly in the last few years, and can usually be found written in a manner which an average user could understand the instructions.

[citation][nom]TommySch[/nom]Do phone support still exist?[/citation]

aparently not. I've been trying to reach them on the phone for days. 2 nights ago I was on hold waiting for someone to answer for 6 hours before I called it quits and went to bed.

In response to KENTLOWT - I think you need to revise your criticism to FREE or WARRANTY tech support. I'm an IT guy and NEVER get complaints. I generally get the job done right the first time and ALOT faster than the Geek Squads of the world. Most of my peers would take offence to your comments too.

Only issue that I've experienced is a printer driver. I 'upgraded' from Vista ultimate 64 bit to Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, no issues. But then got an office security update, 'POOF'... No more printer. Currently have an open case, but that seems to be going no where.

In the time you have waited, you could have backed up your data, reinstalled and tried again. If the problem reoccurs then its an issue, if not then its just one of those things.

'No comment' will do...

It could also be that not as many calls as microsoft "expects" because not as many people are buying 7 as microsoft expected. What a bunch of horse$hit if you ask me.

I have never EVER called Microsoft for technical support, and I never will. Why? Because I'm good at interpreting the root problem; then I Google for a solution. I believe the opposite holds true. Computer-illiterate people are not suddenly going to start using google as their tech-support source, because they aren't good at it. They will pick up the telephone. Microsoft says tech support calls are down to half? I conclude that this is genuine good news for Microsoft and PC users. Ignore the haters.

We have 2 7 boxes in this house, 1 Vista, 1 XP Pro, and 1 XP Home. When we buy our next computer, we'll hope to get one of those upgrade coupons for the XP Pro laptop. That will retire the XP Home box and leave a single Vista laptop with everything else 7. I'm very happy with it and so is my wife. The kids will enjoy it, too, and I look forward to turning on parental controls on their computer so they aren't on it for 4 hours Saturday morning. Then again, with the crap on TV these days, maybe the PBS Kids flash games ARE better for them...
