RAM usage:

RAM usage is probably a GOOD thing. Windows works best when it's got important programs or data sitting in the fast System memory.

It's likely that new updates added programs that are now using more of the memory.

The entire POINT of having System memory is to use it so unless it's proven Microsoft made poor choices with what's occupying this memory I'll assume it makes sense.

Don't forget Windows can unload programs if the memory is needed (such as running a game) so I'm not sure what the complaint is.

It's also not a final release so commenting about stability or just saying "fail" with no reason is pointless.

Many of the complaints on both Windows 8 were all related to the graphical user interface, and people who enjoyed Windows 8 used this as their argument. But in all reality, why do we use operating systems with graphical user interfaces and not care about the interface?

The GUI is a huge part of Windows, if you really want something that runs well use Gentoo. I use Windows because over the past two decades programmers designed graphical user interfaces, and I like a good GUI. With the Windows 10 update, they did make it a lot more like Windows 8 aesthetically. We are all willing to sacrifice some performance as a GUI. Without a GUI Windows would be command line, and who wants that?

I updated the version from a older build, and I just thought immediately that they screwed up with the start menu. It was very nice in earlier technical previews, but the one from this month is really terrible. My hype about Win 10 has really gone back by much.

"Nothing to see here computer user....move along...nothing to see..." Back to
stable and secure Linux Mint thank goodness 8-]

You Linux guys are like the people who *insist* it's better to drive with a steering wheel on the right side in North America. Yes, it's great you've found something you like. Yes, we understand that you think your way is better. No, we don't need to have you constantly come running in to announce "LOOK AT ME! I'M DIFFERENT! SEE? LOOK AT ME! I'M BETTER!"

You like Linux. Wonderful. There *really* is nothing to see here, and no reason to come in *just* to tell us how spectacular Linux is.

Yes people are clueless when it comes to understanding the benefits of Linux vs Windows. As I said in a post above, many people like a graphical user interface and many of the more powerful Linux distros rely on command line, something an average computer user does not want to do. Also, considering the majority of programs and not to mention games are solely supported by Windows, it can be wise to use Windows.

If you run a serverm Linux is much better. More secure, stable, and uses less resources. Your average Joe has no need for a powerful CLI, and yes I know many distros do have a GUI but TBH the GUI is pretty poor. Windows is superior for GUI.

Turkey, good assessment. There are a lot of reasons to use Linux and, frankly, sometimes Windows just isn't worth the licensing fee depending on what the purpose of your computer is.

I would still imagine, at least in part for the reasons concerning GUI that you mentioned - a *huge* hurdle for the average user that makes the difference between using a computer regularly versus not at all - that Windows is the better choice for the majority of users. Last I recall, seeing server stats worldwide, a majority were running Linux - just makes sense given the vulnerabilities of Windows and all of the erroneous stuff that goes into Windows for the purpose of a server.

That being said, it's irritating to have just about any Windows thread having some self-righteous Linux twat coming in and making pointless comments...
