Mid end budget gaming cpu

What could be a good mid end gaming processor?
Here are my requirements:
1. $100 or less
2. Intel core 2 duo only
3. Stock fsb not exceeding 1333mhz
4. Lga 775 5. Low power consumption
6. Stock speed of 2.8 ghz or higher Budget here is really an issue. I have no plans on overclocking. I
cannot shell out more than $100. The only thing i want to upgrade right
now is the cpu and nothing else.

If there is no cpu that is 2.8ghz that is $100 then the farthest i can go is $125

With $100 and if Microcenter an option i would warp myself to the world of cool running quads? Am assuming u on a DDR2 set up so

It's junior triple core version was Toms poster boy low cost bang for buck gaming chip for several months till this day

Hello akosikiev;
You already have a 775 motherboard? Will your MB support a 65W C2D?
You can probably find a Pentium E6800 Wolfdale 3.33GHz 2MB L2 65W for around your budget limit.
Pentium E6700 Wolfdale 3.2GHz or Pentium E6600 Wolfdale 3.06GHz would also be good options.
