Question Mid price AMD gaming build

Hi all

I am currently contemplating a mid budget gaming box, since mine is not really handling Veilguard well

CPU R5 7600 X3D
GPU RX 7700 XT
48 GiB 5600 DDR5
2 TB PCIe 5 SSD

does this sound reasonably balanced?

Why 48gb? 32 is plenty. Might also check into the older rx 6800.

Skip the PCIe 5.0 SSD for a cheap yet reliable PCIe 4.0 SSD and as @ohio_buckeye pointed out, 2x16GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 is ideal for your proposed set up.

Yes you can go that route as well for now. I’d probably not go much higher than something like an rx 7800xt with that box. But that would still give great performance.

If you don’t have this much already you may go ahead and upgrade to 32gb of ram, and upgrade storage with another ssd drive as a secondary drive for games and stuff while you’re at it, then you could pick a new board and cpu in a year or two when you have more cash and things go on sale again.

That is because they both offer the same performance.

Actually I think the 6900xt will be slightly faster. Last year I bought a 6800xt instead of a 7800xt. As I recall it had more compute units etc so part of my reasoning was that it might have more power. I think if you’re looking at it then 7800 in architecture is closer to a regular rx 6800.

Just make sure you get a beefy psu for the 6900xt.
