Migrating partitions from HDD to SSD does not work

Hi all,

I bought an SSD disk that I installed in my PC today. I want to migrate the OS from my HDD to my SSD. I tried several software to try and migrate the OS from HDD to my SSD, but it simply won't work. I have a 2 TB Seagate HDD, and I want to transfer the OS on there to my 120 GB SanDisk Plus. I know you can't transfer the OS only. The partition that has the OS on it is about 1.8 TB, but I can't seem to make that partition ''smaller'' so that it can still fit on the 120 GB SSD.

Please help me out. I've been trying to fix this for over 10 hours, but I'm a complete noob and I'm desperate to get this right. Would appreciate the help!

You don't need to shrink the partition.

But...How much total space is consumed on your current C drive?
If it is over 80GB or so, you cannot clone that into a 120GB drive.

Like trying to fit 25lbs of potatoes into a 5 lb bag.
It can't work like that.

I get that it's too big, that's why I'm wondering if I can clone a part of that disk to the SSD.. at this moment the C drive has about 250 GB on it. Is there any other way to put Windows on my SSD? At this point I have no idea what to do..

No.
You can't clone "part of it".

Reduce that consumed space down to 80GB and clone it.
or...
A clean reinstall on the new SSD
or...
Return that 120GBd rive and get a larger one. Clone the whole thing.
