when im playing mine craft and have fraps open is shows almost 200 fps... but my monitor only supports 59 so what's up with that??? is mine craft somehow special??? and I get no screen tearing so why is it nearly 200 fps???

Solution
You will still be getting screen tearing, try walking sideways whilst looking at a busy texture like glass or leaves, or just spinning fast in a circle. It may just be you're used to it so don't notice it.

Edit: Minecraft also makes no use of SLI/Crossfire.

You'll get tearing as long as your FPS isn't a multiple of 60, or if the game's frame pacing is terrible.

If your render distance is over around 24 chunks then it's due to the limitations of the engine. It occurs to basically everyone without Optifine.

If you are worried about this just turn on VSYNC. That will limit your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor. I always turn this on for games that get crazy numbers like 100+ fps. I don't see the point of running my hardware at 100% to push out more frames than my monitor can display.
