Minecraft lags on powerful gaming PC

I have GTX 970 together with 4690K and 8GB DDR3 RAM. I run Win 10. My PC should be very powerful for minecraft but I experience framedrops and overall very low FPS. GTA 5 has higher FPS and runs buttery smooth! How can I solve this?
