Minecraft LOW FPS r9 290x lightning edition?

Hey guys! , I've started playing minecraft again lately and have been getting really low fps! Like 23 fps or so and I have a far more than adequate pc 8core processor,r9290x lightning that kind of stuff, I don't have any thermal throttling issues or anything and it performs great on other games such as crysis 3 and bf4, any ideas?

Because Minecraft is a much more CPU-intensive game, than GPU-intensive. Since it;s open world and there are lots of mods you can use, the CPU can be strained multiple times more than on Skyrim or Battlefield.

Minecraft is mostly single threaded, making the extra cores on your FX-8xxx largely useless.
Combine that with the low capability of each core and I think your numbers are nominal.

i think its funny when people post saying im getting low FPS but i have an 8 core processor! sorry bro your 8 core processor doesn't mean anything. there are only a few games that even take advantage of 4 threads these days. combine that with the fact that AMD processors actually have lower per core performance than intel and single threaded games destroy your PC.

That being said you should not be getting a bad frame rate at all from minecraft. something is definitely up with your pc.

Try making sure you have the latest version of Java, and that your GPU actually goes into high performance mode and isn't just idling through it.
