So I'm planning on buying two Dell U2414H and connect them to my laptop.
Problem is, these monitors use DisplayPort, and I only have one Mini Displayport on my laptop.

The question is, are there any downsides to use "converters" like these?
Downsides would be something like lag, or loss in picture quality.
Thanks in advance!

If you have one output on the laptop, using a dual connection splitter will just duplicate the displays. You can do it with chainable displays but those are not common at all http://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/ or with a display port hub http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=200-DP-1301-L1 http://www.accellcables.com/products/mini-displayport-1-2-to-2-displayport-multi-display-mst-hub?variant=959248548

I have not tried those hubs but since they are digital there should not be any loss of quality.
