Hello, I have a Jetway NAF93-Q77 motherboard and the board has a mSATA socket for embedded SSD. Would it be possible to use a full mini PCIe wifi/BT4 card plugged into this socket?

The board also has a half size mini PCIe socket but it's currently being partially blocked by a dual wide GPU and also another PCIe card. To use this socket, I'd need a mini PCIe extender and then antenna cables to reach the rear of the case, etc.... I'd like to avoid that if possible but only if the other socket can be used instead.

Anyone know??

Thanks in advance!!!

Nope, sorry. Although msata and mini PCI-E have visually similar sockets, they have completely different circuitry inside.

Nope, sorry. Although msata and mini PCI-E have visually similar sockets, they have completely different circuitry inside.

Quoting from wikipedia:

Mini-SATA, which is distinct from the micro connector, was announced by the Serial ATA International Organization on September 21, 2009. Applications include netbooks and other devices that require a smaller solid-state drive. The connector is similar in appearance to a PCI Express Mini Card interface, and is electrically compatible; however, the data signals (TX±/RX± SATA, PETn0 PETp0 PERn0 PERp0 PCI-express) need connection to the SATA host controller instead of the PCI-express host controller.

However, why is this a problem? The mini PCI-E card will lie flat:

So just take the GPU out, install the wifi card, route the cables around the GPU and to the next free PCI slot cover (assuming your card has an external antenna, and PCI slot cover with antenna connectors.), then re-install the GPU and boot up. They shouldn't interfere with each other, so you should be good to go!
