I am building a new PC here are the specs :
CPU = i5 4790k
GPU = Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280x
RAM = 8GB Kingston 1600 MHZ
Motherboard = ASUS Z87-K

Some people say you need at least a 700 powersupply for a R9 280x , but I used the Cooler Master PowerSupply calculator and they said the minimum power required is at least 450 watts . Please tell me how much power do I need exactly . I have an old gigabyte hercules x 580 watt powersupply i was wondering if i could use that . Thank You

You want a quality 550w PSU minimum, 600, 620 or 650w would be optimal. Tier 3 minimum and much preferably Tier 2B or higher here:

If you have plans or thoughts of adding a second card later, invest in the necessary PSU now, so you won't have to buy it twice. You'll want at least a 750w and preferably 850w if you crossfire.
