I am considering doing some mining with my GTX 1070 and i5 6600k PC.

My case has good air flow and cpu idles in mid 30 Celsius and GTX 1070 idles around 50 Celsius.

I have a corsair CX650M PSU.

Should I worry about my PSU failing or any of my components failing? Any tips or anything I should know?

I won't be mining 24/7, but I would like to mine a little everyday to make a couple bucks.

Solution
I'm going to tell you what I tell everybody. It's not going to be worth it.

With a 1070 MINING 24/7 you're going to make about $40 a month tops. If you're NOT running it 24/7 you won't even make a dollar a day.

You're going to be putting your gaming card under undue stress and it is going to end up failing much sooner than it would should you only be using it for gaming. Running anything for extended periods of time at full capacity is going to kill it much more quickly than typical usage will.

That's not even to mention how it gets harder and harder to effectively mine. Your "profits" are going to be cut in half in about 6-8 months more than likely. So I say its definitely not worth it.

An overclocked 1070 mining zcash 24/7 will make $85 worth of coin a month, with current prices & difficulty.
So if you mined for 12 hours a day, you'd make half that.
I mine with my gaming rigs in the down time, well worth the time if you get cheap power like me :)

Not if you live in America....

Maybe it's my mentality but pushing my system for a lousy $40 a month (which ain't s*** btw) is just not worth it.

BTW I have a 1080 Ti and I would make about $110 a month profit I still say it's not worth it. That won't even pay my electric bill. And it will kill my GPU quicker than just normal gaming, F that.

You can think what you want, I'm just answering his question, I disagree with you.
A 1070 can make 85$ worth of coin a month, mining 24/7. The GPU will likely pay for itself before it were to fail due to excess strain.

Average lifespan of a GPU is about 3-4 years when used for gaming. When you use it like that 12+ hours a day, you're going to cut that in half.

A 1070 is about $400-$450. Making $40 a month will take 10-12 months to pay for the GPU, that's assuming the market stays the same which it won't... (a few months ago you could make twice the amount mining) So yeah it would take several months to recover the costs. If not a year or more.

My opinion is that I would rather work an extra hour a week and make $40 a month rather than run my gaming GPU 60+ hours a week to make that.

It all boils down to what you define as being worth it.

I guess if $40/mo is a significant amount of money to you, then sure it's worth it.

So with your estimate of the lifespan being only 2 years, which is highly unlikely btw, but continuing with this logic...
Running the card just 12 hours a day, making just HALF of its potential profit, the card will pay for itself before it even hits half of its lifespan.

With this logic, do you have any reason why you wouldn't want a free GPU every year?
Saying no to a free GPU for less than an hour of work a year is foolish in my opinion. Not sure why you'd rather work an extra hour a week to accomplish the same task, I value my time much more than that!

Obviously it depends on usage, but the AVERAGE is 3-4 years. Based on hours upon hours of research and digging into forum posts. There's no reason a GPU should not last 5 years at least, however that depends on a lot of factors. Usage being one.

But typical usage under most circumstances, lifespan is 3-4 years. If it makes it longer than that its because it was well taken care of and it is a really good card.

However, high temps and prolonged usage at full load WILL decrease the lifespan.
