Misplaced CPU issue, can't check if it's broken.

So nearly 4 years later after my last post I've decided to upgrade my PC parts but ended up purchasing the parts to build a new PC instead.

Last time I built a PC I bent the pins on the CPU, one of the reasons why it failed to work and had to buy a new CPU.

My cpu is an Intel Core i5-8600K.

This time around when I put the CPU in I was very careful, but somehow as I tried to gently place the CPU into the slot I misplaced by about 1 cm. I didn't realize this until I tried to close the CPU latch, I noticed that it didn't align properly. At first I tried to fiddle with the hatch so that it would fit on the CPU. I don't remember putting that much force on the lever, I don't believe that I tried to properly close it all the way. It's all a blur at this point. I opened the hatch back up to find that the CPU was slightly misaligned, I gently "pushed" it and it slid into place. I'm was and still am scared to take it out to inspect it if I damaged any of the pins. So, I continued to install the cooling system and everything and found out that I didn't have the right type of ram (I was going to use the ones in my old pc).

Now, I'm at a point where I can't try to boot it up until the ram arrives next week. My question is: Do you think that I may have damaged the CPU pins at all? I'm just very paranoid about it and I'll be thinking about it all week and I don't feel comfortable taking out the processor to check.

Thanks for reading this.If you need any more specs then please let me know.

Solution
1 CM is VERY far off, almost a half inch...

I'd not be surprised to see a mangled CPU socket as a result, but will root for ya to not have this result. 🙁
It is easier for a pin on the motherboard to be bent instead a contact on the CPU has been damaged. The possibility is small, but it exists.

If you have doubts that some pin of the mobo may have doubled, you should check it before trying to turn on the PC. If a bent pin of the mobo makes contact with the wrong point of the cpu it can damage it. If you have questions, you can upload photo of the mobo or cpu socket.

Try to maintain serenity and act without nervousness. Do not try to run. In no case turn on the PC without the cooler and fan placed and connected. Make sure to discharge your static electricity by touching a metal object when handling the mobo.

When you put the Intel CPU, look at the small triangle for reference. Watch some tutorial to see it perfectly.

Thanks for the responses, as I've contemplated about this issue I think that it wasn't 1 cm off but more of like a few millimeters. However, I was going to check to see if it is broken or not today, but I've already installed the cooling port so I'll wait until the ram comes and some thermal paste before I try and sort the issue out. Thanks again for the insight.
