[SOLVED] Misshap with Mobo/CPU

So I built a PC awhile ago, and I forgot how my case worked... and I ended up having a misshap with the CPU and motherboard. Long story short, CPU pins were bent and I can't tell if the motherboard was damaged.

I bent the pins back into place on the CPU and it can boot up. However, it appears that the second ram slot is dead. There's an infinite power cycle/loop when both sticks of ram are in. When only the first slot is filled, it boots up just fine. When the machine is in the infinite power cycle loop, it never reaches BIOS or anything like that. Just a constant 30 seconds on, a few seconds off... etc.

Now, how do I tell if this is a motherboard issue, or a CPU issue? I can get a replacement Motherboard for around $60, which I'd be willing to do if it would fix the problem. But I imagine it isn't a guarantee?

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Could be either the board or CPU.

ALL of the pins are there? None broke off?

No pins broke off, and they're perfectly straight now as far as I can tell. The motherboard's CPU release feels a lot funkier than I remember it, are they generally finicky?

the only way to tell for sure would be to test the CPU and the MB independently from each other.

What is the CPU and motherboard?

Bent pins on cpu could have damaged socket contacts on the motherboard. One way to sometimes find one is look carefully at the contacts at an oblique angle with a bright flashlight. You're looking at how the light reflects off the gold plated copper contacts. If there's one or a few that are clearly different in the way it 'gleams' that's a likely problem.
