Hello. I was building my pc and was placing my cpu into the socket and missed it 2 times as this is my first time ever building a pc. I finally got it on my 3rd try but I am worried and curious if I damaged anything from not getting it on the first try. Could I have damaged anything, or do you think it is safe, because i was able to lock it down with lots of pressure.
By lock it down do you mean with the lever or the heatsink needed lots of pressure? If you needed to use lots of pressure you probably damaged either the CPU or the motherboard or both. Does the system boot or did you not even get it that far? I've had a friend of my son's build a system that did not boot. When I looked at it, he never seated the CPU properly and bent a row of pins pushing it down. The CPU lock lever should be pretty easy to lock in place, if you needed to really push on it, that does not sound like a good thing.
