Everytime I try to open system restore I get the following message.
rstrui.exe-unable to locate component
the application failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found
Re-installing the application may fix this.
Well it didn't fix it when I reinstalled the framedyn.dll file.
I can't get my system to start in the safe mode either, how can I restore my
system without a complete restore to factory settings? Thanks for your help
and knowledge.

To reinstall system restore, follow the below steps:
1. Click Start, run, type "inf" (with out quotation marks) and click OK.
2. Right-click on the sr.inf and click install.
3. When prompted insert the Windows XP CD-ROM.
