[SOLVED] Missing files from secondary HDD after transferring files from another PC.

I have two 500gb HDDs. One is my boot drive and other is for general data storage. I gave my secondary HDD(without OS) to my friend for some data. He connected it using SATA in his PC and transferred some data into my secondary HDD. I also asked him to delete some files to free up some space. After he finished deleting and copying new files to my HDD, I connected that HDD back into my PC but the deleted files were still there and new data he copied was not there. The HDD just reverted to its original state to when I first disconnected it from my PC to give it to my friend. I ran recovery software and the files he transferred were available in E(being the volume) $RECYCLE.BIN. What should I do so next time it does not happen?
I am using Windows 10 Pro
Xeon 1245 V2
16gb ddr3@1600 mhz
2x 500gb HDDs (not in RAID)

Disable fast boot (in BIOS) on both computers.
