Hi everyone !

System specs;
Intel HD 2500 graphics (Intel i5 3470 CPU)
GA-B75-D3V (motherboard)
Running Windows 7.

I recently switched from Acer AL1916W (19 inch) monitor to Acer V206HQL (19.5 inch) monitor and the maximum resolution for current monitor appears in windows resolution settings as 1366x768, which is not correct. It's supposed to be 1600x900. FOR BOTH MONITORS I USED VGA CABLE TO CONNECT THEM TO MY PC...AND PLEASE NOTE THAT I ONLY USE ONE MONITOR !

On the older monitor max resolution was 1400x900 and everything worked perfectly, until I switched to new one...where max resolution appears even lower than for the previous, smaller monitor.

I tried unticking the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" but when I choose the highest resolution for my monitor size (aspect ratio 16:9) - 1600x900 - it is not properly configured, like it's too big for my screen. I tried changing everything in graphic card, windows and monitor options, but nothing works.

My graphic's drivers are up to date.

What's the problem here, how to solve this ?

Would re-installing graphic drivers help ?

This also has nothing to do with the fact that it's connected with VGA.

Thank you very much !!!

Solution
You can try uninstalling your Intel HD Graphic drivers and then reinstalling with the latest there is. It could also be possible that the cable may be faulty but it wouldn't hurt if you used the cable that came bundled with your new monitor.
I've tried all that...but nevermind, I figured it out. It turns out my monitor is only capable of 1366x768 resolution..I do have the V206HQL model, but Bb version, which has different max resolution, it says so on the box. For the same model (but standard version) on Acer's page it says that it can go up to 1600x900. I also reduced the DPI scaling through Display options in Control panel.

Thanks for your reply, have a great day.
