So a few weeks ago I was reporting my copy of the Windows Update service was using a abnormally high amount of CPU time continuously I did SFC, System Update Readiness Tool both came back just fine. Windows Update itself last I used it works but very very slowly I tried using the Windows Update Diagnostic but that failed with a error that when I looked it up was a file missing error. So I did some searching and found this article (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058) I followed it to the letter but then when I got to the part where I needed to reregister the DLLs the following couldn't be found by Windows (msxml.dll, gpkcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, slbcsp.dll initpki.dll, wuaugeng1.dll, wucltui.dll, wuweb.dll, muweb.dll). I don't even know if my copy of Windows even is supposed to have those files, I guess it is, Windows doesn't seem concerned with them missing. Also what are each of those files for?
So my question is does someone know of a safe place I can download the dlls? Also I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate so where do I install them system32 or SysWoW64? Because all the sites I saw say system32 but I don't know if they take 64 bit into consideration.
Also I was wondering can I use WSUS Offline utility in Windows 7? And if so does it rely on the Windows Update Component? If not is there anything I need to look out for or does it only show compatible updates?
