Is this why on my system info it says 3.25GB memory? I just bought another 2GB kit to total up to 4GB....for my games. At posting screen it says 4GB.

Mikeny your having the same problem? well that makes me fell better... anyone have any thoughts on why?

You haven't said whether you're using XP or Vista. Someone has already pointed out that the inability of XP to access the entire 4GB of installed memory is a known design limitation.

Yea 32 bit operating systems can handle a "maximum" of 4 GBs of RAM. But for some reason Windows XP will only handle about 3.25 GB, everybody with XP and 4 GBs of RAM has the same issue. I don't know the technical reason for this but you're not alone.

Vista Ultimate...
Apologies. Didn't see this the first time.

I googled the question. This may be of interest: Maximum Memory in 32-bit Windows Vista. The gist of it is that the actual amount of memory you can access depends on how Windows allocates your 4GB address space. Some addresses can't be used to access memory because apparently they are mapped to hardware.

I thought the 4GB problem would be fixed by Vista, but it looks like I was wrong.
