Ok so i downloaded a movie and it happend to be an mkv file. Previously this movie played perfectly fine the speech in the movie worked along with the sfx. Well all the sudden i go to play the movie later on and no speech just sfx. Does anyone have any clue as to why it stopped playing the speech in the movie that would be greatly appreciated.

channels? if it a 5.1 and you now playing in stereo you may be missing some channels. i.e. the ones carrying speech
"Cinavia" copy protection? (though that normally mutes all sound and only impacts if you play through a PS3 or something)
Don't know - couple of ideas. HTH
Cheers

I also thought about 10-bit video or other SW problems but the movie played fine before.

It's possible to watch BT DLed movie with sequential DL settings but that'd drop frames, too, when the missing part is hit. OP has good video, good sound effects, no speech. Hardware problem or some crazy vocal suppression filters.

That reminds me one peculiarity about by B&O Beoplay H6 headphones. They have a mic on the cable with 3 buttons. When plugged into my smartphone, I can't hear vocals in the song unless I hold middle button (one of the reasons I have custom cable for them).
I'm sure it's just some broken or loose cable. It's nearly impossible to corrupt a file so that just the speech is missing.

You're talking editing. Filtering or disabling a channel if vocals are on their own track is fine because software makes appropriate changes in the file.
I'm not saying you're wrong. Such situation is possible if speech is somehow recorded separately and file format is designed in a way that you can corrupt a header, disabling the track (or messing with offset, but this will likely has noticeable side effects) and file passes CRC or some other error checking. I'm saying it's unlikely to have such a clean corruption.
Parts of BT downloaded files are verified with distributed hash table, it's not that easy to corrupt a file and it's easy to verify it by simply restarting the BT client

It is not on PS3 it is on my pc.

If you would have read I said this file played perfectly fine previously something i had done changed the preferences in the movie player and I was using vlc, but i tried this is different players trying to see if that was the problem.

its FLAC.

Are you still able to play standalone FLAC files?
