I have a new mobo - MSI Z790 A-MAX WiFi. Specs mention support for Win 11.
  1. Can i install win 10 on this?
  2. The m2 ssd from the old mobo which died had Win10 installed. I need to log in to save browser tabs data and check other data, before format+reinstall OS. So before format it can I use the m2 ssd and boot into the OS with this new mobo? Will it work? Maybe Attempt a driver install/repair or use safe mode? Is a login possible? What's the worse that can happen?

Go here;
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z790-A-MAX-WIFI/support#driver
and you should see Windows 10 in the drop down menu.

FYI, I'd advise on going to Windows 11, since Windows 10 will be a decade old once 2025 rolls in, signifying it's almost out the door in terms of support.

Might work (but not guarantied).
Basically you have to make BIOS settings related to boot - the same way as they were on old system.
Sata controller mode - probably to AHCI,
Boot mode - either UEFI or CSM (same as on old system)
Secure Boot - turn this off.

Thank you
I will give that a try. I wasn't aware bios settings need to match. Fortunately I have saved the modified bios settings list in my one note.
