Power supply I couldn't find on PCPartpicker but its a CoolMax Atx 500watt http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7220649&CatId=1079

Have a budget around $400 (have some wiggle room maybe) and only looking to upgrade what I have to. I don't have any plans to OC but it may be a possibility in the future. I'm hoping to build a system that lasts about 3-4 years before I have to upgrade again.

I was thinking an i5-4690 (k if I decide i want to overclock) No idea on Mobo and a maybe a R9 280? Or wait a until the 3 series comes out and but a 290?

Lets see what you think!

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Core-3-0GHz-Processor/dp/B0072PRPP4

Athlon 3.0 ghz quad core llano.

Then buy a GTX 960-970.

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-960-2GD5T-OC/dp/B00SAYDRLC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427471140&sr=8-2&keywords=MSI+GTX+960

But that is if you want to keep your current system.

I recommend this because you can game with this and then get a better PC upgrade later.

Get a good 4690 non k paired with a decent b85 or h97 chipped mobo. Preferably asus h97 gamer pro or b85 gamer pro. Then get at least a 970. If you can stretch the budget, 980. Also, a decent psu is needed to. I suggest getting a corsair or seasonic Psu. Oh and umm you can sell your parts tho. I think you can score up to like, 200$ for your cpu/mobo/gpu/psu combo. Or maybe 250$ So you got 650$ of budget. So yeah, a decent psu. Cheapest i can find is i guess the corsair cx600m will suffice. Or maybe 500m if youll go for the 970.

Ah yes! Saving money on the PSU. Please, before committing to all the other parts, review Tier 5 of this list:

Coolmax are JUNK. What you save putting in a cheap PSU, you lose when it blows and takes your computer, or maybe even your residence, with it.
If possible choose from Tiers 1-3. Yep, might be more expensive in the short run, but less so down the road.
This is interesting also:

Well I guess that is something I will be getting first!

Anything wrong with buying a used CPU? I like what Newbbuilder11 suggested as I can upgrade a bit slower and spread the cost out over a few months only the only CPU suggested I can only find used. (Amazon and Ebay) and they take 20-45 days to arrive..

That is what RMA is for.

I've bought plenty of used stuff. In this current PC i have a used Sapphire R7 260x 2GB oc Edition that i picked up for 100 dollars. Still holding strong after a year of use.
