I got a motherboard from a friend, who thought it was a good idea to remove hardware while the computer was running and I ended up with the carcass. It is a Sabertooth z77 intel mobo. What I am wondering is if the pins can be repositioned for a new CPU and if it will work without fireworks happening in my case.

Hit and miss. I've had a board as bad, and went OCD with a bunch of small precision tools and was able to fix it. Had one with only 3 bent pins and 1 snapped trying to straighten it. Depends on if they are just bent a bit or kinked.

I've heard you can run a credit card though each row horizontally then vertically. The pins are extremely thin and I have not attempted myself, but just passing on some info I have seen along the way. Good luck!
