Mobo pooped on me

Okay so my mobo broke. I'm looking to upgrade but I'm not sire what to upgrade to. I have a z97x. I would also like to make it future proof. So I can get ddr4 ram and an i7 8700k instead of using my current 4790k
I was looking at this mobo https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8sRFf7/asus-rog-strix-z370-e-gaming-atx-lga1151-motherboard-strix-z370-e-gaming but like I said not really sure what to look at when it comes to mobos.

What board were you working with prior? If you do go for the board you've linked, you're going to have to also buy a new processor(unlocked K suffix) and DDR4-3200MHz rams in order to operate on that board. Drives and GPU's as well as the case and PSU can be salvaged from your current system.

Your current processor is not going to work on any of the new series of Intel motherboards. The Z3xx series motherboards will only work with the 8th Gen processors. You're going to either need to upgrade your entire core system (CPU, Motherboard, RAM) or just get another Z97 series board.

@Wolfshadw I am aware i will have to upgrade core parts. Thank you though. What would be a good upgrade from my mobo that I jave now? That is still compatible with the parts I currently use?

Honestly, looking at what's available on PC Part Picker, I'd say none.
