I not sure why my computer wont detect my new M.2 SSD.

i have this mobo:
http://ark.intel.com/products/70898/Intel-Desktop-Board-DZ87KLT-75K

recently bought

http://ark.intel.com/products/94332/Intel-SSD-540s-Series-120GB-M_2-80mm-SATA-6Gbs-16nm-TLC
and
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GCXCR7W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The adapter power led is on, but my system wont detect any hardware changes and wont detect the new SSD.

i have it seated into the bottom pci slot,

it does not show in bios, or as unrecognized hardware in manager

Solution
Did you notice the warning at the bottom of the Product Description section on Amazon's web page for that add-in card?

*** This Adapter doesn't support SATA connection ***

Your M.2 SATA SSD isn't supported.

The SSD you bought will work , give me a sec

i think you hit the nail on the head, thanks for that should have been more careful. thanks.

The Intel SSD 540s is a normal Sata3 SSD and not a PCIe SSD , it is not different in any ways than 2.5 SATA3 SSD drives , but the size , that is to install in Tablets or notebooks directly on the Motherboard.

There is no point in losing a slot for it , this is not a PCIe SSD . if you can return it and get the same 2.5 inch would be better . or get a real PCIe SSD ...

you can use it as a simple Sata SSD using This

I dont know about the Adapter you are using , but it says M2 PCIe interface not sata3
