Modding GTA V, Why doesn't it work?

Whenever I try and install a mod on GTA V I it opens Adobe and it won't install. It says "Adobe Reader could not open 'mod name' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.... Can anyone give me some suggestions or tips? Thanks!

What are you using to install it? Also what is the file extension for the mod. If it's .pdf, then that is why it is trying to open using Adobe

To install mods stop Script Hook V and your mod of choice into the GTA V folder on steam

How might I change the program I'm installing it from, and what am I supposed to be using? It appears to be a .rar

Your doing it wrong. There is no program to install mods. Look it up on youtube. Extract the files from the .rar and put them in your GTA folder.

The moment I hit the download button from gta5-mods.com it just opens Adobe Reader

Alright so I thought I had it but then I got an error reading, "FATAL: Unknown game version"
