Modem and Router Set Up

I want to move away from the modem/router that was given to me by Verizon. I want to do a modem and a router set up, and was wondering if there were any recommendations on good modems and routers that anyone would have?

Your modem will have to be approved by your ISP, in this case Verizon. They may tell you in this case to use your current device as a modem only, and to disable the router feature. In most cases you are better off with a separate modem and router as you will have much more control of the setup.

For the router, what is your budget, and what are you trying to connect to it?
