Modem icon on the system tray

I can't get the modem status icon to appear on the system tray on Windows 98. It happened after I installed Laplink. I alrady tried reinstalling the modem. Anybody can help?

try looking up the modem properties in the control panel?

Try reinstalling DUN (Dial-up networking). If that doesn't work, then look at the connection properties for the connection you're dialing.
