Modern Warfare 2 game crash causes computer to shut down

My friend has Windows Vista 64bit and has been playing Modern Warfare 2 since it came out. He has no problems with the game until recently it started to crash. The entire computer literally turns off in the middle of a game. He is able to get through some games, but then sometimes it just crashes. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this?

A little question for you all.

My mate has been playing mw2 for a couple of months now and has no problems, all of a sudden it has started to freeze when he enters a game. The screen just turns black and locks everything up. The only way of restarting this is to manually turn off the computer by holding down the power button.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

I dont know about that issue, but I know that the issue that turns off your pc is GPU related. Sucks but I upgraded my 4800 gpu to a 5700 and I havnt had any problems since.

same as above.

upgrading my PSU fixed my shutdowns, but it wasn't 'til i got a 5 series GPU that my crashes stopped.
