Hello my fellow PC gamers!

Im writing because Im very confused about all the dilema about Modern Warfare 2. Some people say its the worst thing that IW has taken out after the amazing hit of COD4. I really want to buy the game, but then again I dont want to get it and then feel like a total Idiot after spending $60. Also some friends from school got the game last night and said that they played it till 6am in SP mode. Some said that the story is so intense that they didnt want to go to sleep. How interesting. I really want to try it out. But then with all the things they have taken away from the PC version its a huge draw back. God this is so anoying. Can some one that has bought the game for the PC post something, a review or something that we the PC gamers can rely on. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea you can install it on 2 PC's, the issue will be trying to play on both PC's at the same time...other than that you are fine....

I don't trust PC gamers opinions on games because they are all geeky, 4-eyed zit factories who never get laid.
/sarcasm off

The console gamers YOU know might not have the same level of taste as YOU as a PC gamer. Making derogatory statements like that about anyone is ignorant, immature and anti-productive. As a dedicated gamer across all types of platforms (PC, Consoles, mobile) this type of attitide is offensive. Sure, we are only talking about games, but any discussion started with that sort of prejudice and ignorance is invalid.

Roumer is Ghost is getting his own game in a few months. So what, 3 more months till first whoring of MW2?

Played at friends house; nothing new, minus the missing features, of course.

Wow after less than a week on the market the game is almost unplayable online. IWnet and STEAM keep booting me and all of my friends. Seems like someones servers are not up to par... Plus hackers up the ass. Since VAC only updates like once a damn year. Having major issues with this one. wish i could take this peice of *** back. They better do something about this crap.

No dedicated servers... who cares! No mods... does it matter?
I have been playing cod since it's inception, and have always been amazed by the quality of the games. MW2 is no exception.

I have played MP for about 40hrs so far, and have had VERY MINIMAL problems with server lag and host crashes. Dedicated servers not neccesary for the majority of gamers.

I also played Cod World at War extensivly, and to be honest most of the mods annoyed me anyway. Sure it's nice to be able to customize the game... but ITS AN AMAZING GAME on ITS OWN. GET OVER IT.

My only complaint is the additional $10 that PC gamers must spend. But hey, we all know that gaming is far more advanced graphiclly and otherwise on the pc, that's why were PC gamers, am I right? I shruged off the $10, who cares.

Bottom line: The 40hrs spent so far was well worth the $60 spent. I look forward to many more hrs in the future. Also, the single player mode is the most intense fps sp i've ever played, and im only 1/4 through it.

Unless your a self rightous overconcerned nerd, get this game if you like COD, it's well worth it.

Your troll mojo must really be flowing today. You back out of one discussion with me earlier this morning (after I call you out on comparing 5 year PCs to PS3s) and come here looking for more trouble. Bottom line is that there is a difference between what is considered a good PC shooter versus a good console shooter. That doesn't mean there is no overlap but I'm not going buy PC games based on the opinions of people who played it on the console only. It's perfectly reasonable to consider what platform somebody else is playing on versus they one you are looking to buy on. It goes both ways as well. I wouldn't expect somebody to take a PC gamers opinion of a game as the reason to buy or not to buy a console game.

My bad on the date but I think you were taking my sarcasm about "taste" a little too personally. Asking what platform somebody is playing on is perfectly reasonable when taking their opinion into consideration. For all you know the game could be awesome on the consoles but be a crappy port on the PC. I found that out going from playing Splinter Cell titles on XBox to playing them on my PC and that's not even an opinion coming from somebody else.

It will not be bad, i guarantee you.... Even though there's no dedi on Consoles AND PCs, IF and Activision created the way to reconnect everyone with a new host if the original host left. Hard to explain but, if that takes you off the no dedi thing. Also, lag is on every single game. CSS lags all the time..... You just gotta deal with it, if you have excellent internet, IE Cable speeds, then you shouldn't worry.... Calm Down if this doesn't satisfy you Purplerat.

^^ Please. Non-dedicated servers kills any and all competitive gaming. I take it you've never played in a clan with members from all over the country (and outside it)?

Lets face it, consoles lag, badly. Every console game I've ever played has lag issues online. And other PC games without dedicated server support (RF:G being the prime example) are already dead due to lag issues in multiplayer.

And CSS doesn't lag; just go into a server near you instead of using quickplay. Heck, I refuse to play in servers I get a ping higher then 25ms in anymore...

I would add that it's not just competitive/clans players that no dedicated servers kills the MP for. I've never been in a clan or played competitively but when I play this type of game for MP it's public dedicated servers which allow you to find a community to play in that suits how you want to play the game especially if you are not a hard core competitive player. Without that option I'm pretty much left with every MP game being completely random. If that's the case I'd rather just stick with SP.

You put into words exactly how I felt, but couldn't figure out how to say. I am a big fan of the SOCOM series, and while I had a ripping time with COD4, it was with the clanmates I met in SOCOM1-3 were who I played with, hah. Dedicated servers are about more than just latency and game quality consistency, it is a big part of how the culture of a MP game develops.

IDK about you guys but I have been playing GT5, Uncharted, NFSC and MW2 among others on my PS3 (online) and I have not experienced any lag whatsoever... Maybe a lag spike every 15-20 min if I am playing wireless. If the PS3 is connected via ethernet there is no lag whatsoever.

I have the same experience with my ps3, and use cable connection. I have used wireless at times (only way to stream video to PS3 from xp64 PC, annoying) but have noticed that it effected my GT5p negatively, never allowed more than 4 player races, while when cabled was alloying me to enter fully populated races. It may have been a REALLY big coincidence, as I tested over several months, but I am convinced it was the wireless. My voice chat seemed to be effected as well, in games like mag beta and KZ2, it would be choppy over the wireless. I have a pretty good router (d-link 4300) with DMZ on for the PS3 connection, so I am also pretty sure that isnt the issue, heh.

Editted to mention I have the Software BC 80gb PS3 (Motorstorm Bundle) if the model is of any concern.

Read the posts above - it's not all about lag. But then again it's easier to get away without lag when you have to limit the total number of players. Of course part of the reason these games have to limit the total number of players is because if they didn't users would experience more lag.

Agreed. Consoles limit the number of people to take strain off the company networks. Thats one reason I found MW2 multiplayer boring; the action is too spread out. At least a 16 man BF2 map has point which focuses the action...

Also note, quickplay tends to want to put people who live near eachother together in the same game. Once you start to play with people from California and Texas, you see the limitations of non-dedicated servers.

The one biggest issue that faces clans is server placement; I've seen on more then a few occasions really good players forced to sit out of matches because their internet isn't good enough to connect halfway around the country. With dedicated servers, you can control this. With MW2, its all up to the gods.

Hacks, exploits and griefing are just more reasons why dedicated servers are needed. Good dedicated servers allow players to police themselves rather than having to rely on MS, Sony or IW to actually do something about it.

Having a dedicated server will not stop the hacking regardless if the host is cam tracking the hacker or not. As long as the game is made to work on a PC there will always be a hack available and in most cases it will not be detected. Aimbots, wallhacks, glitching, etc are among the easiest to detect, but unfortunately there are many other hacks that are almost impossible to detect. This has always been the downside of PC gaming.

^^ Agreed. Nevermind that for all its faults, Punkbuster at least works. I've only seen a handful of hackers after 5 years of BF2, and never the same thing twice. CSS, I can't go more then 1 match without seeing someone hack.

Good clan servers have 24/7 admin support, so you can deal with people in the long run. A few of us also pass around banned lists, which leads to several hundred server where known hackers are banned for life. Of course, you don't get that now, unless VAC catches them in the act.
