Modular PSU connections to GTX 980Ti, single or dual cable

Like the thread name: my PSU (Seasonic 620W M12II Bronze Evo Edition) manual recommends 2 separate cables from the PSU to the graphic card using 8-pin despite each cable comes with 2 8-pin connectors already. As a result the inside of my case is as ugly as sin

So, is it ok if I only use a single cable for the card? Nothing harmful to it in the long run? Thanks.

If the two 8-pin PCIe cables that are on one cable are basically "split" from a smaller number of wires, it's better to use separate cables as you said because the combined current from both cables will end up heating up the adjoined cables more.

That is strange as I have the same PSU and I got 2 6+2 pcie power cables with it. But yea you should preferably use separate cables.

Yeah, its 2+6 but AFAIK there is no difference vs 8 pin. Just wanted to make sure if dual cable is better than single one, since this is the first time a manual specifically tells me to use 2 separate cables for a high wattage (250 and up) video card.

Specifications for an 8-pin PCIe cables is 150W, using a splitter will not be good with that card. Use separate cables.
