OK! So, I have never built a computer on my own and am thinking about buying parts etc.

Would be getting Lian-li PC-V300 micro case, Asus p5l d2-vm r2.0 mobo, 2gig super talent ddr2 667 pc2-5300 ram, 1 cd/dvdrom and a bigger x1950pro pci-e vid card.

Can someone suggest a good solid modular or sleeved psu that would fit in this case? I have read some forums saying that the antec neo would fit this case but I am inexperienced with micro cases

thanks! :)

Well you can easily check the dimensions of the PSU or the PSU specifications to see if it fits in a mATX case. That being said, the Corsair HX520 is in the same ball-park as the NeoHE, same size and also with modular cables. Check that one out if you're interested. (I tend to trust Corsair more than Antec, as Corsair ONLY puts out high quality PSU's, while Antec has HQ AND low quality which can confuse and cripple some buyers) This isn't to take away from Antec's NeoHE or Trio TruePower. They're all great PSU's.

Looking at the picture of the LianLi V300, I don't see how a small ATX12v PSU couldn't fit.

At this link
Thread about a guy using the same case.

Here's a quote
PSU clearance is tight especially with a nice beefy PSU. The Antec unit fit in okay but it wasn’t what I would call “Easy”. I’m sorry Lian-Li didn’t use their normal meathead of constructing the case so the PSU can be slid in form the back.

He was using an Antec TruePower Trio 550 which is about the same size as the Antec NeoHE.

So looks like it'll fit.

Good luck!!! 😀

x1950 pro even thought its new chip is alot more effecient is still a power hog - i have one here and its crashing 2 psu's both are small 30amp @15

i recoommend u get 600 watt pau with 35-40 amps min or more

do not go by wattage - u have to look at 12v amps - that case looks like any psu will fit

The Antec NeoHE he's considering has 42A at the 12V rails and the Corsair HX520 I recommended has 40A at the 12V rails.

lol. First off- I am a girl 😛

Yeah, I know how to look at the combined A on the 12v rails and figure it out from the wattage for them, etc. (I read some of the guides on here!)

Yeah the card is a power hog, but I would be running Vanguard: Saga of Heroes on this rig, so it would have to handle it!

Thanks for the good answers both of you.

DragonSprayer - I looked at your website, nice systems, but I prefer Geil brand memory :)

Your avatar pic looks alot like my husbands rig too.

Thx again.

What a coincidence the guy in the thread I sent you to is building a PC with the same case as you for his daughter.

Sorry for thinking you were a guy, it's a habit. The whole, "Girls don't play computer games" rumor sinks in with me pretty deep! And most of the girls I've met that play games like Vanguard or WoW are usually not single. 🙁

If you have any other questions, we're here for it. And an Antec NeoHE is more than enough to power an X1950 Pro.
