[SOLVED] monitor advice

hi

I'm looking to buy a new pc monitor. i will use it mostly for gaming and work.

this is what i look for in a monitor:

1. easy on the eyes. that's the most important thing for me by far, as I'm spending a lot of time on my pc.
2. not too expensive. i really don't want to spend more than 400$ (preferably even 300$) on it.
3. not too big. something like 30 inch give or take.
4. i really don't care too much about super high resolution like 4k (although i would prefer 1440p, but 1080p is still fine), or high refresh rate like 144hz, but i do want it to be high quality and have good colors and such.

i really don't even remember when was the last time i bought a monitor, so i could really use some advice, thanks for helping

How about the Asus MG28UQ? It's the monitor i use. it's great for the price. A 4k monitor with a 1ms response time and a refresh rate of 60hz, for just 300 to 400 dollars. (depending on what store you buy it from)

EDIT: By the way, you do need a displayport 1.2 cable if you want the monitor to run at 4k with 60hz, and / or enable freesync. HDMI 2.0 will do too, i think.

I'd recommend browsing the web for monitors first, since i could be wrong. Just take your time picking a good monitor. Just do some research.

If your not into extreme gaming as stated then don't rule out TV's
You can get some high quality at reasonable prices, you will be limited to 60 or 120hz depending on model.

If you using a Nvidia 10XX series GPU or newer then it may be able to use Freesync with it following this guide, it also requires a DisplayPort cable.

Another style monitor I think is worth mentioning is going 3440x1440P. This monitor is a VA panel but the colors still look really good and fits within your budget.

Yes. But tv's do not have freesync, a 4k tv is more expensive than a 4k monitor, tv's often lack of displayports, tv's don't have height adjustable stands, etc.

If you don't really need UHD resolution, freesync, displayports and all of those fancy features, and you did find a good deal on a tv.. sure, go for it.
