I wanna know which power supply and monitor i can buy for my first build, components: GTX 970 ASUS Strix, intel i5 4690k 3.2 ghz, 1866 hyperX 4gb ram, 1tb WD HDD, motherboard pro gamer ASUS (not sure about the motherboard brand) Budget $250.

Solution
1000 W is more than overkill even for sli GTX 970. That linked EVGA GQ series unit seems to be good, but can't say it for sure now. It is not listed on the psu Tier list:

For that money you could a proven one from Tier 1, known as one of the best units. Look for Seasonic or Superflower builds, they are the best. EVGA have also some units made by them. They are EVGA G2, T2, GS line (and some other, look in the tier list).

GTX 970 just requires a normal 500 W unit or more. A good one can even be lower. I used an old 400 W unit to power my GTX 970 for one month. A sli setup would just require 700 W, if its a so so quality psu, just to be on safe side. So, its better to...

I have Supeflower 650 W Gold with modular cables, first class quality (your rig and parts like cpu and gpu will last longer), without ny noticible noise, modular cables. I plan to buy a second Gtx 970 to sli them with this unit, but I dont overclock anything.

Solution
Short answer: Yes, 650 W is more than enough, unless you think about adding a second gpu.

Longer answer: For single GTX 970 a psu of a good 500 W should be enough. If you add overclocking both gpu and cpu, plus some spikes with short high wattage needs, plus a little room, then 650 W is plenty enough. This is a suggestion just for a single gpu. Even 550 W shold be more than enough.

Do you want add another card and overclock your system? Then at least 700 W is recommended.

Instead of getting low quality 1000 W, get a good quality 700 W.
