The Hardware:
Gigabyte GTX 1070 (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125875)
Acer Predator XB1 Series XB281HK (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16824011083)
ASUS VG248QE (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313)
AOC i2269Vw (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F85YJ2566&cm_re=AOC_i2269vw-_-24-160-329-_-Product)
The Problem:
I cannot get my Asus monitor to receive input through DisplayPort. It was working prior to about 4-5 days ago (maybe up to a week, I'm not sure I just haven't had time to try to solve the issue until now). It seemed to spontaneously stop working.
I have been using DisplayPort cables for both the Acer monitor, and the Asus monitor. The Aoc monitor has been receiving input through a DVI-D cable.
In the Nvidia control panel, I can see the option to enable the Asus monitor, but it will not check the "box" to enable the input through the DisplayPort (see screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Eu0Lf). When I do click on the checkbox to enable the DisplayPort input for the Asus monitor, my PC freezes for 20 seconds or so. When it comes to, the checkmark in the box appears for a second or two, and then disapears. I then get the dialogue box to "keep changes" or to "revert changes." Applying the changes accomplishes no change.
In the Windows Display Settings the monitor appears as a box to be rearranged, but is selected as "Disconnect this display." When I try to use any other option in the Multiple displays dropdown menu the computer freezes just like using the Nvidia Control Panel, and red text appears saying: "The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings." Again, the windows box comes up asking to "keep changes" or to "revert changes." But "keeping changes" does not enable the input. . .
My Troubleshooting so far:
1) Updated GeForce Game Ready driver version 388.00 (10/23/17) to the current 390.65 (1/8/18).
2) Swapped the DisplayPort cable to the Acer monitor, and vice versa. The Acer monitor works with the Asus DisplayPort Cable, and the Asus monitor still does not work with the Acer cable.
3) Uninstalled all windows updates since the new year; no change.
4) Reinstalled those windows updates; no change.
5) Restarted the PC with only the Asus monitor connected; no display.
6) The only luck I've had with this has been to take the DVI-D cable from the Aoc monitor I've been using and connecting it to the Asus monitor. I haven't bothered using an HDMI cable since this monitor has a 144hz refresh rate and HDMI does not (as far as I know) have the bandwidth to support that refresh rate.
Please help, I have no idea what to do at this point, and I'm at a loss. The graphics card seems to work just fine, as I have no problem with any of the other monitors. The monitor seems to work, except just not with DisplayPort. As a result, my Aoc monitor is useless since it does not have an HDMI port or a DisplayPort.
Thankyou.
