When I hook my new benq monitor up to my laptop via HDMI cord it works perfect. When I connect same monitor and HDMI cord to my just built pc I get "no signal detected. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. The fan on the gpu is running so I'm not sure if it's a do a or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've read countless other threads about dvi connections and whatnot but nothing like this. I know the monitor works fine, but not sure if I should rma the graphics card.

Solution
Yeah, sounds like you are looking at a dead gpu 🙁 Make sure it is getting enough power, try re-seating it in the pci-e slot, and generally just try to make sure it is the gpu, but it sounds like that is your problem.

Yeah, ive tried reseting the memory and gpu. Power is connected properly as well. Still got "no signal detected".

Not sure if it helps or not but I'm using

MOBO: 990FXA-UD3
PSU: EVGA 750G2
CPU: FX 6300
GPU: XFX R9 270
CPU cooler: corsair h100i

Is that a good graphics card?

Yes, there is nothing inherently wrong with that model graphics card, it just sounds like you got a dead one. Contact XFX or whoever you bought it from (eg: Newegg) and get an RMA.
