I have an LG Flatron W2234S. I have changed the power functions in the display and still it goes into sleep mode constantly. All drivers are up-to-date!
Checked manual and no answers for this problem. Any answers please!

can you describe further? When your turn the computer on, does the monitor display the picture? For how long? Have you set the resolution on your desktop to one compatible with your screen? Try using another monitor briefly on your PC, if not use your television, plug it in with a HDMI/ vga cable. Have a look through all your monitor settings in the monitor's option button, reset it or look for any problems. Have you set your desktop refresh rate at the compatible refresh rates for the monitor?

When I turn on the computer the picture comes on the monitor at startup. Within 10 seconds In starts to go into power saving mode and I will use the mouse to get the picture up. Then it happens again 10 seconds later.
I haven gone in and changed the display settings, disconnected and reconnected. I have downloaded a zip file which was supposed to recover since it could be the video card- that didn't work! I am know going to get a new video card and see if that's the problem. If that doesn't fix it I'm getting a new monitor. Unfortunately, I don't have another monitor to check it as I am an Apple laptop girl. I only use the Windows PC for work related stuff.

Ok- how would I go out diagnosing it? I've checked almost everything and still no luck? I'm not that computer savvy so is it something that require me taking it in a shop? The cost of a new monitor to getting it fixed is it really worth it?

plug your monitor into your apple laptop does it have a socket for vga cable connection? If it's going to sleep every ten seconds even when you have just turned your computer on then it probably sounds that there is a problem with the monitor itself. Everytime you move your mouse the monitor wakes up?

No, my laptop doesn't have a connection for a VGA.
The PC only turns on when I click the mouse several times.
First it reads on the screen 'power saving mode',
Then goes to a black screen, then it clicks on to the screen.
Or I use the 'enter' button several times.

can you get the computer all the way into windows desktop? Obviously by clicking and waking up the screen. Have you got another vga connection on your pc, plug your monitor into the onboard graphics, in your desktop try and disable your separate graphics card then unplug it, and plug your pc monitor to your onboard graphics, turn the computer back on again.

Hi!
I finally gave up and got another monitor! It works fantastic and no problems!
Thanks for all your help!

I had the same problem with my monitor HP EliteDisplay E231
I am using windows 8.1
i solved the problem like this:

1- The monitor had built-in power saving mode which you can disable using on monitor controls.
2- for me before disabling the power saving mode on monitor, my monitor goes to sleep and it shows that its going to sleep,
but after disabling the power saving, it doesn't show that its going to sleep it just shows a blank screen with no input source message, but the monitor is active.
3- I solved the second problem in windows 8.1, by enabling lock screen slide show.
4- doing that now the monitor doesn't sleep.

Note: probably the second problem that happened to me is due to a cable or graphics card issue.

hope that helps.
