Question Monitor dead or just adapter?

Some context, forcefully pulled plug from monitor to adapter accidentally. Monitor won't turn on anymore. I can hear some sort of repeating "ticking" sound everytime I plug it in. Cannot tell if from monitor or just the adapter. If possible, if the monitor is still not dead, I want to make much use of it as I cannot afford money for a new monitor, but I can for an adapter.

My monitor is S19A100N, from Samsung.

I have forgotten to mention, but this instance occured months ago, so my adapter might have been thrown away.
What I can give is, that from the exterior, the monitor and the plug itself show no physical signs of damage. I don't think I can provide more as of to the inside, since I have no expertise in ripping monitors apart and the adapter is gone.
